The active ingredient of Zovirax, aciclovir is an antiviral agent used to prevent the replication of a coldsore virus thus helping it to heal at a quicker rate than your own bodies immune system would.
How long does Zovirax Cream take to work?
Zovirax cream’s success rate very much depends on when it was first applied to the cold sore. If it was at the very early stages of a coldsore (tingling or itchy symptoms) for 4 full days, then it can reduce the coldsores full blown symptoms by several days or weeks. However if it is applied when a coldsore is fully present it is not as effective and thus the healing rate is reduced. However the cream can be applied to the same cold sore for up to 10 days to help improve results.
How much and how often should Zovirax be applied?
Zovirax is sutiable for all ages and should be applied at the first signs of a cold sore. Apply the cream liberally to the affected area 5 times a day. Continue the treatment for 4 days. If your cold sore hasn’t healed after this time, you can use the cream for up to 10 days in today.
